Stop and smell the roses
This week we've gotten news that Diver Dude's heart is broken. It needs fixing. With lots of medication, electric shocks and hope.
He's been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and dilated cardiomyopathy after having felt run down for several months. Basically his heart is beating irregularly and his left ventricle is dilated and not contracting properly.
It scares the living crap out of me.
I lay awake last night after the four o'clock feed listening to my two boys breathe next to me wondering how I could continue breathing if one of them weren't there.
Every moment together is precious.
Holding hands while brushing our teeth.
Laughing together when Bubba reaches for his toes.
Sharing a knowing look when hearing something we don't agree with.
We need to stop and smell the roses. And hope we have many, many moments left together.

My goodness. So sorry to hear that scary news. Hoping some good news follows quickly and Diver Dude's heart responds well to the therapies in store.
ReplyDeleteO my dear Circus Princess, how impossible... I was thinking that for you the endless hospital visits would be over and you could 'just enjoy' being a mother. And then, life twists again. Wishing you hope for (against) all things scary.
ReplyDeletehugs.
So sorry to hear about this. Hoping they are able to control his a-fib (we have a very good friend who has had, from a very young age, a-fib and has to take precautions (limit alcohol) but does very well.) Don't know how the cardiomyopathy plays into this, but hoping they can get him better.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this news! My thoughts will be with you and DD over the next few moths! DD will be just fine!

ReplyDeleteI'm really glad they figured this out prior to something more serious like a stroke. There are quite a few people with AFIb, and some very good medications. I don't know about the ventricle issue, but I'm so thankful you found it now. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! What is the plan?? That is sooooo scary. I am sending you best wishes for a good plan and a long, long happy time together!
